RETREAT, JUNE 18-20, 2010

Pharmacy retreat will be held on June 18-20, 2010 under the theme “Pharmacists Taking Charge...” This theme embodies the concept that it is time for Pharmacists to demonstrate their true value as an integral part of the health care team. Also to aggressively increase the publics’ knowledge of the role of the Pharmacist and the way in which their expertise can make a difference in their lives and well-being. This theme serves as an impetus for Pharmacists to speak up and out about the profession. The theme is left open ended to allow for flexibility, to be used at the retreat and throughout the year at other upcoming events.

Over the course of three (3) days several programs and events are planned to achieve our objectives.

Friday

The pharmacy retreat starts on Friday evening, with attendees checking into the hotel. This evening is left free of activities to allow them to unravel the stress of work and to browse the hotel and start enjoying the facility. On this day also exhibitors will set up their booths in preparation for the following day.

Saturday

Saturday, the main day of the retreat, will host the Opening Ceremony and several Continuing Education Seminars (CE). The day’s program is estimated to start at 8am and go until 4pm. In the evening, the entertainment includes, “Pharmacy Idol & Concert.” For the past two (2) years this event has allowed pharmacists and other health professionals to showcase their talents in the form of a competition. Also a guest artiste is invited to perform.

Sunday

On Sunday, attendees will rise with the sun to participate in a FUN AEROBIC session. This will be done under the supervision of a gym instructor and will take the form of a competition with participants vying for the fittest team, fittest senior, Mr. & Mrs. Healthy Body, etc. A fee will be attached to this venture and the proceeds will be donated to a charity of choice as we strongly believe in giving back to the society. Last year all proceeds of this activity went to the Mustard Seed Community. More CEs are scheduled to be held on this day; however they will end at approximately 2pm to allow more time for relaxation and to enjoy the hotel’s facility.
