Rotaract Club of Kingston - District 7020
| There is an alarming level of hopelessness among our Jamaican people, there is no belief that things will ever get better, and we often fall prey to this attitude. We fail to see ourselves as the agents of change, we fail to embrace the impact that our Inner-City Art Competition has, or the Inter-Home Spelling Bee Competition or any of our other community service projects have, by giving hope…..it was Napoleon Bonaparte who said and I quote “leaders are dealers in hope” As Rotaractors and by extension the leaders of the not too far tomorrow we must be dealers in hope! ----- Pres. Andrew Evans |

The Rotaract Project Management Seminar was held at the Hilton Kingston on September 26, 2009. The aim of the seminar was to develop the skills of young professionals in successfully planning, implementing and completing projects.
The event was the brainchild of Rotaract Club of Kingston’s own Nicole Goodin (Dir – Professional Service 2009/10), however it was moved that an event such as this be a District-wide project. It was at this point that the Rotaract Clubs of New Kingston, St Andrew and Liguanea Plains were invited to participate in the planning and execution of the event. An open invitation was issued to members and guests of Rotaract Clubs across District 7020. There were members and visitors in attendance from the following clubs:
Once again another Home was chosen to receive educational assistance for children going back to school. The Church of God Girls Home was selected and the proceeds from Seh Sup’m fundraiser provided:-
- Three girls entering grades 8-10 with text books; and
- Six girls with school shoes and socks for the upcoming school year
It was my first “Seh Sup’m” event so I didn’t know what quite to expect. A fledging poet myself I had visions of a smoke filled room, rhythmic drum beats and afro-centric poets with words sounding like dripping honey. What can I say? The room wasn’t smoke-filled, but I got a lot more than I bargained for.
